Well my client picked up this little ditty of a chair<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gbd9eF-VcKs/Uj3futZZuxI/AAAAAAAAEfs/YdOFQHIQuUQ/s1600/Katrina+before.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gbd9eF-VcKs/Uj3futZZuxI/AAAAAAAAEfs/YdOFQHIQuUQ/s400/Katrina+before.JPG" /></a></div><br/><br/>totally a "pre-loved" piece of furniture but its soo cute and petite! The chair is for her daughters room and is mostly for show. She picked a white cotton linen blend for the slipcover. She wanted to keep the ruffle skirt as well. It turned out pretty cute! <br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LS_lKvTNZxg/Uj3gwokqHeI/AAAAAAAAEf0/FkKvP1mvPE8/s1600/Katrina+after+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LS_lKvTNZxg/Uj3gwokqHeI/AAAAAAAAEf0/FkKvP1mvPE8/s400/Katrina+after+1.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QVCOb0wlBcU/Uj3gwmaHTKI/AAAAAAAAEf4/bnDarGMSb1k/s1600/Katrina+after+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QVCOb0wlBcU/Uj3gwmaHTKI/AAAAAAAAEf4/bnDarGMSb1k/s400/Katrina+after+2.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KUOo7nZtRYA/Uj3gyK0fzUI/AAAAAAAAEgE/p7UBLOZOlc4/s1600/Katrina+after.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KUOo7nZtRYA/Uj3gyK0fzUI/AAAAAAAAEgE/p7UBLOZOlc4/s400/Katrina+after.JPG" /></a></div><br/><br/>It turned out pretty great for not being lined.(white fabric is tricky... it almost always needs to be lined unless you are working with light colored furniture..) Every little girl needs little vanity chair for their room...Katiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16027345614249821198noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4720860539585589730.post-86274646477606260732013-09-07T22:45:00.001-07:002013-09-07T22:45:26.577-07:002 dragons....have you seen Starsky and Hutch? if so... this makes perfect sense!<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-W_TZWqDAsQM/UiwKczuKYSI/AAAAAAAAEaY/Do8UHrxs8bY/s1600/ferrellmad-starskyandhutch-590x350.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-W_TZWqDAsQM/UiwKczuKYSI/AAAAAAAAEaY/Do8UHrxs8bY/s400/ferrellmad-starskyandhutch-590x350.jpg" /></a></div><br/><br/>Great movie!! this moment between Will Ferrell and Owen Wilson kept playing thru my head while on worked on these 2 awesome chairs! You may be asking yourself "why?" or "this girl is nuts!" but stay with me! there is a reason. You see my client has been waiting and waiting to find the perfect fabric to cover her 2 chairs. after months of waiting, back order and changes she came up with the coolest fabric ever!! <a href="http://www.fschumacher.com/search/ProductDetail.aspx?sku=173273">Schumacher's Chiang Mai Dragon</a> Now this fabric is no joke and at the price it is per yard, I was shaking in my boots a little before I started cutting it! She ordered it from the UK and totally worth it if you ask me!! Here are her chairs before they became super fantastic:<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jqAuAqlQpBM/UiwMKrt9GgI/AAAAAAAAEak/7jPwKfQW4rQ/s1600/photo+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jqAuAqlQpBM/UiwMKrt9GgI/AAAAAAAAEak/7jPwKfQW4rQ/s400/photo+1.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TVoJ3dfA2i4/UiwMOxewfnI/AAAAAAAAEas/8zqa7M2wfeA/s1600/photo+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TVoJ3dfA2i4/UiwMOxewfnI/AAAAAAAAEas/8zqa7M2wfeA/s400/photo+1.JPG" /></a></div><br/><br/>They were in great shape and had fun modern lines. i had to take my time with this one because of the fabric.. It was a really nice linen, but linen moves a little when you work with it. So I had to whisper sweet nothings to it to make it cooperate! we are taking "2 dragons" here! But it was all worth it cause check them out now!!!<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ih9ZzQhqeZQ/UiwM9wJ_HcI/AAAAAAAAEa0/An6Vepv4gHs/s1600/photo+4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ih9ZzQhqeZQ/UiwM9wJ_HcI/AAAAAAAAEa0/An6Vepv4gHs/s400/photo+4.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KlSTdz8v9rg/UiwNMbd2S3I/AAAAAAAAEbE/YFAH_Kw5w5I/s1600/photo+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KlSTdz8v9rg/UiwNMbd2S3I/AAAAAAAAEbE/YFAH_Kw5w5I/s400/photo+2.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7bm0Uo6Izzs/UiwNLsc7cKI/AAAAAAAAEa8/2dY9_phWvjw/s1600/photo+4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7bm0Uo6Izzs/UiwNLsc7cKI/AAAAAAAAEa8/2dY9_phWvjw/s400/photo+4.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ms4SyutvVFA/UiwNPGKDl4I/AAAAAAAAEbM/TE6TpK8rUbg/s1600/photo+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ms4SyutvVFA/UiwNPGKDl4I/AAAAAAAAEbM/TE6TpK8rUbg/s400/photo+2.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wcbKpZMoDjU/UiwNQDusAOI/AAAAAAAAEbU/s-2or2JHTOE/s1600/IMG_2041.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wcbKpZMoDjU/UiwNQDusAOI/AAAAAAAAEbU/s-2or2JHTOE/s400/IMG_2041.JPG" /></a></div><br/><br/> I am soo in love with how they turned out!! I was able to get the dragon on each cushion as well as the bigger parts of the chair. She was beyond thrilled with how they turned out! and they look great in her house too! I was also able to squeak out 4 24"x24" pillows as well. <br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6FSzUD_7eyI/UiwOF_RVAoI/AAAAAAAAEbc/p26FkaEnWYw/s1600/photo+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6FSzUD_7eyI/UiwOF_RVAoI/AAAAAAAAEbc/p26FkaEnWYw/s400/photo+3.JPG" /></a></div><br/><br/> I used up every last bit of her fabric! Dragons Rock! Now how to keep people from sitting on those chairs $$$!Katiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16027345614249821198noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4720860539585589730.post-81690791602101776712013-09-05T12:06:00.000-07:002013-09-05T12:06:34.481-07:00Union Jack 2So in the last post my client wanted a a few wing chairs that were done out of drop cloth so she could paint the Union Jack in the inside back. Well she dropped off this when she came for the finished one!<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yGJAeBXEuek/UijSeWyE61I/AAAAAAAAEZw/zDArbc3cAd4/s1600/photo+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yGJAeBXEuek/UijSeWyE61I/AAAAAAAAEZw/zDArbc3cAd4/s400/photo+1.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bIXydUoCppw/UijSd7r3XdI/AAAAAAAAEZo/9rI10Ekxvzo/s1600/photo+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bIXydUoCppw/UijSd7r3XdI/AAAAAAAAEZo/9rI10Ekxvzo/s400/photo+2.JPG" /></a></div><br/><br/> It was pretty close in shape to the one i just finished for her only it has different arms...the arm fronts recess back a little bit. It turned out pretty cute! She had me make some pillows as well to go with her chairs. Its crazy how great a painters drop cloth can look!<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZNVFqcyUezo/UijTo1pmJ6I/AAAAAAAAEZ4/W_Y_UoJKu0A/s1600/photo+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZNVFqcyUezo/UijTo1pmJ6I/AAAAAAAAEZ4/W_Y_UoJKu0A/s400/photo+3.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-g01wO8K1wrE/UijTo9QUF0I/AAAAAAAAEZ8/TNk2Gi3X5rs/s1600/photo+4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-g01wO8K1wrE/UijTo9QUF0I/AAAAAAAAEZ8/TNk2Gi3X5rs/s400/photo+4.JPG" /></a></div><br/><br/>The drop cloth as became a hit again! I have another client who will be doing a pair of wing chairs in drop cloth only I convinced her to do a fun skirt! Stay tuned...<br/><br/> I also worked on a fun duvet with matching pillows and drapes last week too. Pics will come as soon as I drop off the goods! Today I am working on 2 cool little low arm chairs that will be covered in this fabulousness:<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XtVqSlc4Dhg/UijUavdChdI/AAAAAAAAEaI/ybQslaxY65I/s1600/dragon.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XtVqSlc4Dhg/UijUavdChdI/AAAAAAAAEaI/ybQslaxY65I/s400/dragon.jpg" /></a></div><br/>You can thank Schumacher for creating the Chiang Mai Dragon, but you may want to punch them in the throat for how much the price is per yard... seriously! we are talking $150+ <b>A YARD<i></i></b>. I said a small prayer before I started cutting...Just to be safe! These will be picked up saturday because me and the husband are headed to our annual Couples Lake Powell trip (could not come fast enough..) so check back saturday! or maybe tomorrow if you are lucky! <br/><br/>
I have 1 opening left this month, so hit me up if you want to turn your "loved and tired" looking furniture into something fabulous!! Katiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16027345614249821198noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4720860539585589730.post-44009767219106548142013-08-24T11:14:00.001-07:002013-08-24T11:14:36.589-07:00"Jack" of all tradesRemember when "painters drop cloths" were hot?! They're back!!! They are a great alternative to your typical fabric. They are super durable (its made to catch paint for heavens sakes!)and super cheap!! I forgot how much I love working with them, especially when they are freshly washed... Can you smell the clean laundry now??? It makes the fitting process soo much better. I feel like I am in a laundry detergent commercial and I am the guy sniffing the towels... anyways.. Its pretty great.<br/><br/>My client contacted me and had an idea... she asked me if I could slipcover several wing chairs in a durable fabric because she is wanting paint the good ol' Union Jack on the back rest. um...YA!!! She is in the middle of collecting these wing chairs and lucky for her, I had this! (remember how I am a procrastinator with my own stuff...)<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ITWA_osySjQ/Uhj1lwmOXRI/AAAAAAAAEWE/ocgmwiZCCig/s1600/blue+wing+before.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ITWA_osySjQ/Uhj1lwmOXRI/AAAAAAAAEWE/ocgmwiZCCig/s400/blue+wing+before.JPG" /></a></div><br/><br/>So I grabbed some drop cloths, washed them and got to work! I am soo happy that "little blue" found a home!<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wT5hw9-8duQ/Uhj3CNEaHFI/AAAAAAAAEWQ/MoXBlaOOFBs/s1600/photo+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wT5hw9-8duQ/Uhj3CNEaHFI/AAAAAAAAEWQ/MoXBlaOOFBs/s400/photo+1.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-b8v5sa4R5n4/Uhj3DpRghwI/AAAAAAAAEWY/Y_E1b95T3LA/s1600/photo+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-b8v5sa4R5n4/Uhj3DpRghwI/AAAAAAAAEWY/Y_E1b95T3LA/s400/photo+2.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uGWVQgI_V-0/Uhj3GOAIvWI/AAAAAAAAEWg/3fzO0r-vITY/s1600/photo+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uGWVQgI_V-0/Uhj3GOAIvWI/AAAAAAAAEWg/3fzO0r-vITY/s400/photo+3.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aA-wq1RE4uE/Uhj3WRfW2GI/AAAAAAAAEWw/Wb8qWt2g6L4/s1600/photo+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aA-wq1RE4uE/Uhj3WRfW2GI/AAAAAAAAEWw/Wb8qWt2g6L4/s400/photo+1.JPG" /></a></div><br/><br/>I absolutely love the shape and size of this wing back chair, hence the reason why I bought it.. Its the perfect size! She did not want a skirt, she wanted a very tailored look so I finished off the bottom with piping. I cant wait to see how it turns out with the Union Jack! She is picking it up today and swapping it out with more. Love it!<br/><br/>I still have 2 spots open in September. Contact me to get on the list!Katiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16027345614249821198noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4720860539585589730.post-63594879307349590962013-08-21T08:49:00.001-07:002013-08-21T08:49:20.574-07:00Blue Babe<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">School is back in session.. who is jumping for joy??? I have to admit... My oldest started 1st grade yesterday and I was a little sad... No more lunch outings with him or seeing him in the early afternoon. Since we moved he now gets to ride the bus. I had nightmares that he would take it to school and then not show up after school.. But I am happy to report, he made it!! Luckily for us we have some really good friends in the neighborhood and our boys can ride the bus together and are in the same class. boom! He had soo much fun at school and I can now rest easy... Oakley... on the other hand started her last year of preschool monday and is already having the boys eating out of her hands... I am scared for her teenage years.. But schedules are forming and I am feeling like things are getting back to normal!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">My client had this love seat with cushions that did not originally belong to the couch...as you can see in the picture the cushions were not wide enough and just awkward fitting...It did not matter what way you turned them, they just did not want to cooperate! But dont you worry, I beefed them up real nice so they fit snug as a bug in a rug!</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-P-UHfKSLvd8/UhTZDRN2C7I/AAAAAAAAERM/ZlS3g0DHCJg/s1600/Tammy+couch+before.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-P-UHfKSLvd8/UhTZDRN2C7I/AAAAAAAAERM/ZlS3g0DHCJg/s400/Tammy+couch+before.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">This couch is going in my client's master bedroom and she wanted it to have a beachy feel to it. She bought a blue twill fabric that had some good stretch. She did not want a skirt, she wanted it to be very tailored looking. I had to wrap the cushions in batting to get the size right. In the end the couch turned out great! Big blue babe! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">She mentioned on her way out that she was going to make pillows out of a blue ticking stripe to tie everything together. We all know how much I love a good ticking stripe!! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">September is starting to fill up so contact me to get on the schedule!</span>Katiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16027345614249821198noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4720860539585589730.post-55513177510302971862013-08-20T20:56:00.000-07:002013-08-20T20:56:47.801-07:00the "beast" 2.0I am happy to present to you my new cutting table. Which I built all by myself!! She is lighter than the original beast of a table, yet very durable and will be easier to move when the time comes..(kill me now!) I do miss my cute, bright and cheery <a href="http://thesewingnerd.blogspot.com/2013/01/bright-idea.html">sewing room</a> in our old house, but hey, I have lots of room in the basement and its not super dark!! So thats a plus.. right?! Well, here it is..<br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sQPYLt9LgPg/UhQ4aD9V1vI/AAAAAAAAEQ0/vlxaGc7BR_o/s1600/photo+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sQPYLt9LgPg/UhQ4aD9V1vI/AAAAAAAAEQ0/vlxaGc7BR_o/s400/photo+1.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GdHJa0myt0I/UhQ4c8-pmRI/AAAAAAAAEQ8/9Y78CerX3no/s1600/photo.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GdHJa0myt0I/UhQ4c8-pmRI/AAAAAAAAEQ8/9Y78CerX3no/s400/photo.JPG" /></a></div><br/><br/> It took me about 2 hours to build. I could not believe how sore i was the next day...seriously... a little pathetic!! But hey, I am a proud mama! Some of you may ask, "why didn't your husband do it or help you?". because.. if you know me at all, you know I hate waiting! and if I can figure out how to do it myself, i will. Plus my husband is crazy busy with his landscaping. He leaves the house at 7am and gets home at 9pm every day... i am sure the first thing he wants to do when he gets home is build more crap! lol! I have my machines in the "dining room" and the "living room" has become the catch all furniture fitting room.. sure I have to run up and down stairs to prep fabric, but hey, "if you don't take the elevators and only take the stairs like Cary Grant" you will be golden. right? <br/> anyways, stay tuned tomorrow for a new post! Katiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16027345614249821198noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4720860539585589730.post-80217688887075322082013-08-07T20:38:00.000-07:002013-08-07T20:38:01.984-07:00We survived. barely...I am happy to report we are all tucked into our rental.. or as tucked in as one could be after 3 weeks of chaos!! We had two awesome, back to back family reunions. My husbands family was a blast! We stayed on a ranch in Altamont, UT. Which is in the middle of nowhere... but we had a huge lodge, pool, yard for games, climbing wall, paint ball, craw dads and ponds all for our enjoyment! It seriously was a blast and the kids were in HEAVEN!! Then, we were home to wash cloths, make a small dent in packing the house and then off to Park City with my family for the week. We golfed, ate and played. It was fun too, even if my son did crack his head open on the coffee table....Its cool, boys can have scars on their foreheads, right??? Then we returned home sunday to find out our closing date got moved up by 3 days...uh...ok. (remember how i still have not fully packed the house at this point??...) Luckily our buyers were amazing and gave us the week to get out! I am soo happy for them, I am glad we had the coolest couple in the world end up with our house. Oh ya...then I took off that friday afternoon to hang with the girls in the family for a girls trip to st. george and to see Mary Poppins. I am not gonna lie, the first morning there I slept in till 11...dont judge!! I crashed hard!!! It was nice to relax and have fun with no responsibilities.... <br/>Now that we are settled I need to get my sweat shop back in order. unfortunately I had to leave the "beast" (my awesome cutting table)... It was built in the basement and did not want to play!! So I need to come up with a replacement and fast!!! I am going back to working in the dungeon...tear...but its temporary... I am just excited to get back to work! So if you are in need of some super awesome slipcovers, I am now scheduling for September!! Hit me up folks! I am dying to get going!!Katiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16027345614249821198noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4720860539585589730.post-63947682676450120572013-07-13T16:53:00.001-07:002013-07-13T16:53:11.926-07:00Pray for me!!!Soo..The next 3 weeks are going to be some of the craziest weeks our little family has seen a long while. We sold our house and will be closing August 1st. I hesitated to post anything for a while, because the last time we had our house under contract it fell thru...so this time we were tight lipped. well today I got my confirmation to start the packing! Now some of you are probably thinking.. why is she begins soo dramatic? I have 3 weeks. Well, around here when it rains it pours! You see, next week we will be leaving for a the whole week for the Mortensen Family reunion. This reunion has been in the making for 3 years! All of my husbands family (parents, 10 siblings plus kids, 62 people in all) will be together! So fun, but we have to prepare all the food.. yikes! But luckily i got the shopping done for my part today. So I can check that off the list.. Then we leave the following wednesday for my family reunion for half the week... Are you flowing me? So as of right now that gives me a total of 9 packing days. but wait! there is more.. I am going to St George with the girls in my family to see Mary Poppins on Aug 1st.. Closing day. Again, has been in the works for a while and there is no turning back now! And to top it all off, the rental we were planning on may not work out, but we wont know until next week.. while we are gone.. So we may just end up pulling a "Cousin Eddie" living in "Old Besty" our tent trailer at an unsuspecting realtives front yard...<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rUOog0mL9Is/UeHklQs3KpI/AAAAAAAAEQA/spJaDlOqPwc/s1600/cousin+eddie.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rUOog0mL9Is/UeHklQs3KpI/AAAAAAAAEQA/spJaDlOqPwc/s320/cousin+eddie.jpg" /></a></div><br/><br/> So there you have it! What are our plans?? we want to build, but first things first, we need to find a place to live in the mean time! AHHHH!<br/><br/>Ok, enough of my blabbering.. lets get down to business! One of my "horse" friends whom I have know since I was 13 sent me a chair in need of some TLC. YOu see, another one of my "horse" friends from the same barn is having me makes some sweet a%$ curtains and window benches for her new house and to my surprise brought a stow away with her when she dropped off her fabric.. Here is the culprit..<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mZDfc76GV7U/UeHlfWCedhI/AAAAAAAAEQI/Wp1ubGmMZAA/s1600/+Kenna+before.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mZDfc76GV7U/UeHlfWCedhI/AAAAAAAAEQI/Wp1ubGmMZAA/s320/+Kenna+before.JPG" /></a></div><br/><br/>This chair and ottoman were pretty great! But you see my friend it belongs to has no business being in a fabric store..let alone picking fabric! She wanted something to go with her couches, which are a neutral brown with maroon throw pillows. But I refused to let her go with another neutral color...And since I was picking her fabric, she had no choice! I did find a print that hit all of her colors, but with more punch...<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-P08ILyVuSuk/UeHmXvr816I/AAAAAAAAEQU/ERmdLpUlwyM/s1600/Kenna+chair+after+.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-P08ILyVuSuk/UeHmXvr816I/AAAAAAAAEQU/ERmdLpUlwyM/s320/Kenna+chair+after+.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_Y5QEtPloyM/UeHmZeBi_KI/AAAAAAAAEQc/kczXuTCWknY/s1600/Kenna+chair+after+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_Y5QEtPloyM/UeHmZeBi_KI/AAAAAAAAEQc/kczXuTCWknY/s320/Kenna+chair+after+1.JPG" /></a></div><br/><br/>Pretty great!? I can't wait for her to see them in person! I also knocked out a few pillows for another clients. She picked a really great heavy stripe fabric. Love them!! <br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oLJxZXQ6yTg/UeHmwn7-IDI/AAAAAAAAEQk/YApSBPeCWr8/s1600/Lesa+pillows.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oLJxZXQ6yTg/UeHmwn7-IDI/AAAAAAAAEQk/YApSBPeCWr8/s320/Lesa+pillows.JPG" /></a></div><br/><br/> So It is safe to say that I will be taking a break till we have a place to live... Most likely mid August, unless we are seriously living out of a trailer...So please...PRAY FOR ME!!!! <br/><br/> But if y our lucky, I may document this chaos and post it here to keep me from the looney bin...Katiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16027345614249821198noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4720860539585589730.post-61582803222320797832013-07-08T16:04:00.000-07:002013-07-08T16:04:42.001-07:00I just finished making some cushions for a cute couple. They have this wood bench for their cabin that is harder than a rock to sit on! I know some people like to rough it, but lets be honest, if you at a cabin, your like to be comfortable.. so you might as well have your cabin seating just that! Here is the bench before:<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kTquWzHb50E/UdtE6vsxVZI/AAAAAAAAEPo/GN6pC2sidQM/s1600/Bench+before.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kTquWzHb50E/UdtE6vsxVZI/AAAAAAAAEPo/GN6pC2sidQM/s320/Bench+before.JPG" /></a></div><br/><br/>
Now check it out! <br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mUvP11aPuME/UdtFaomu9oI/AAAAAAAAEPw/9Mf_zqx3sno/s1600/Bench+after.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mUvP11aPuME/UdtFaomu9oI/AAAAAAAAEPw/9Mf_zqx3sno/s320/Bench+after.JPG" /></a></div>
Nice and comfy for the bum and some pillows to soften up the back rest too. Now they can sit in comfort while they enjoy their surroundings! I am sure their bum's will be thanking them!Katiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16027345614249821198noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4720860539585589730.post-18307814982715284972013-06-27T14:51:00.001-07:002013-06-27T14:51:04.596-07:00I love it when my clients keep me busy with ksl finds. Remember these <a href="http://thesewingnerd.blogspot.com/2013/05/jealous-much.html">chairs</a>? Well they now have a new friend sitting across from them.. This is what we started with.<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-v8guhub2lUg/UcywL9DLUnI/AAAAAAAAEOc/NPfrOeuFG-A/s1600/Rachel+couch+before.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-v8guhub2lUg/UcywL9DLUnI/AAAAAAAAEOc/NPfrOeuFG-A/s320/Rachel+couch+before.JPG" /></a></div><br/> she picked it up for $70 on ksl!! Not to shabby if you ask me. She went with a white denim with a ruffle skirt. She really wanted the ruffle skirt but was not sure how her husband would take it.. we did it anyways. And boy was she glad she did! It turned out great! I sewed the 3 back cushions and 3 seat cushions together to create 2 longer cushions (i love that look). She sent me these picks of the finished couch once she got her slipcover home. Here is the after:<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gzVwpgeUggg/UcyxMD6w8AI/AAAAAAAAEOo/Jtk6187Y9Co/s1277/rachel+couch+after.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gzVwpgeUggg/UcyxMD6w8AI/AAAAAAAAEOo/Jtk6187Y9Co/s1277/rachel+couch+after.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2KY4Lmy962c/UcyxNfKBgDI/AAAAAAAAEOw/y0ThfJE--AQ/s1277/rachel+couch+after+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2KY4Lmy962c/UcyxNfKBgDI/AAAAAAAAEOw/y0ThfJE--AQ/s1277/rachel+couch+after+1.jpg" /></a></div> Sure it could use a little batting between the existing cushions, but we had none at the time.. Anyways, she was thrilled!<br/><br/>
On another note, I am finally getting to the little blue wing chair I bought a few months ago.<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hbqt21vM6b8/Ucyx_o2g3tI/AAAAAAAAEO4/8UJU_2v0aOQ/s1600/blue+wing+before.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hbqt21vM6b8/Ucyx_o2g3tI/AAAAAAAAEO4/8UJU_2v0aOQ/s320/blue+wing+before.JPG" /></a></div><br/><br/> I am covering it in this great fabric! <br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KVtkTB0v-Pk/UcyysLRlPxI/AAAAAAAAEPI/ZbzuaOFpxx0/s700/ikat.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KVtkTB0v-Pk/UcyysLRlPxI/AAAAAAAAEPI/ZbzuaOFpxx0/s700/ikat.jpg" /></a></div> Stay tuned!<br/><br/>
**yes..I am aware that those pics are GINORMOUS!!! But my mind has melted from the heat wave and I am too lazy to fix it... so scoot back!**Katiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16027345614249821198noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4720860539585589730.post-91118234631331396542013-06-07T08:41:00.002-07:002013-06-07T08:41:30.918-07:00Rocking rightSo the Utah Valley Parade of Homes starts today and one of my very good friend's sister-in-laws' house is in it. House #19 by Millhaven. Um...I pretty much want to punch her in the face right now!!! My friend is an amazing photographer. She took pics and posted them on instagram and it made me want to cry!! The house is amazing! and its like 2 minutes from where I live. I cant wait to go and see it. On another note, my husband, along with that same friend's husband and about 8 more of their friends are off on a "boyfriend" trip... at least that is what I call them..<br/><br/>anyways they came up with a name for this "get-together".. <b>A day, a night and a day<i></i></b>. That same friend designed them t-shirts, they commissioned a chef, are staying at an amazing house on Osmond Lane (one of the guys in-laws who are out of town for the moment) and one of the guys flew in from Texas for this... Oh geeze! The first day consists of 36 holes of golf at 2 different courses, followed by a dinner, prepared by the chef. Pool games, ping pong, jam ball, poker other things 30-somthing year old men who act like 12 do when they are all together.. Then they will finish up the "event with another 36 holes of golf. Boo!! All I can say is he better put this much effort in to my 30th birthday as he did for this!!<br/><br/>Now down to the nitty gritty...One of my favorite designer clients surprised me with the info that they were going to be having another baby! They have 2 older kids. What a shock! But they are soo excited. He wanted to get his wife's glider recovered, because remember how wonderful rocker glider fabric is?? And when you are a designer, or have any sense of style you cannot, and mean <b>CANNOT</b> let that glider stay the same after 10+ years of use! I forgot to take a pic of the before, but this is what I was dealing with...<br/><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IwVqwsqv40w/UbH84neMk2I/AAAAAAAAENo/6v_FUI18JS8/s1600/brian+rocker+before.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IwVqwsqv40w/UbH84neMk2I/AAAAAAAAENo/6v_FUI18JS8/s320/brian+rocker+before.jpg" /></a><br/>Look! They even give you a choice of fabric...How lovely is that!! He had a bolt of fabric the he got on a discount because it was "flawed".. People..Buy that stuff up!! Flawed can mean anything to a color that is off from the original to the smallest detail you may not even notice! You really cant go wrong! Plus you can work around those areas if they are that noticeable. He did not want to do just the cushions, he wanted to do the whole chair! And give it a more tailored look. He was thinking box pleats for the skirt and a ties in the back. Well people, this is how it turned out!<br/><br/><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_-UPNShUj8U/UbH95zr7Z0I/AAAAAAAAEN0/YL9k6-ALc8k/s1600/Brian+rocker.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_-UPNShUj8U/UbH95zr7Z0I/AAAAAAAAEN0/YL9k6-ALc8k/s320/Brian+rocker.JPG" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-T0eeGk49qh0/UbH9-e3_79I/AAAAAAAAEN8/EY0MABjGpls/s1600/Brian+rocker+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-T0eeGk49qh0/UbH9-e3_79I/AAAAAAAAEN8/EY0MABjGpls/s320/Brian+rocker+1.JPG" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-w9WHhC7RfaQ/UbH9-y8fz2I/AAAAAAAAEOE/eBXchW87jLY/s1600/Brian+rocker+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-w9WHhC7RfaQ/UbH9-y8fz2I/AAAAAAAAEOE/eBXchW87jLY/s320/Brian+rocker+2.JPG" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6XgLbMKTrZY/UbH-AZFw1aI/AAAAAAAAEOM/t7_XHMiRkcU/s1600/Brian+rocker+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6XgLbMKTrZY/UbH-AZFw1aI/AAAAAAAAEOM/t7_XHMiRkcU/s320/Brian+rocker+3.JPG" /></a><br/>Now they can rock this new baby in the right style!!!Katiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16027345614249821198noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4720860539585589730.post-16442513025839401492013-06-03T11:00:00.000-07:002013-06-03T11:00:34.052-07:00Not yo Grand-mama's chair!So my cute client that had me do <a href="http://thesewingnerd.blogspot.com/2013/05/sleepin-in-style.html">this</a> slipcover for her sofa sleeper was given a super awesome retro chair in PERFECT condition from her grandma. Wait until you see this beauty.. I think it was preserved under plastic from the moment it left the factory... Seriously! It is such a cool little chair...but it clashes with her new slipcover.. So we we made them match! Sorry grandma! Here is the chair before:<br/><br/><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-InfDnQvR_HM/UazYGu0aOiI/AAAAAAAAEMw/879KNxzu6Qc/s1600/jennie+chair+before.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-InfDnQvR_HM/UazYGu0aOiI/AAAAAAAAEMw/879KNxzu6Qc/s320/jennie+chair+before.JPG" /></a><br/><br/>I feel like this chair belongs in Napoleon Dynomite's grandmas' house...<br/><br/><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MSfY_MmSloc/UazYyDpEiTI/AAAAAAAAEM4/iyqX3XSbH9w/s1600/340x_napoleon-dynamite-400a111306.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MSfY_MmSloc/UazYyDpEiTI/AAAAAAAAEM4/iyqX3XSbH9w/s320/340x_napoleon-dynamite-400a111306.jpg" /></a> I am just saying...<br/><br/>Anyways, here it is! I kept the lines of the chair the same but added a full ruffle skirt to match her couch. I think it brings this little gem into this decade...but i secretly still love it in its original form... <a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-V7QRdtvspkg/UazZVdAsp6I/AAAAAAAAENA/56mR8i3EbvU/s1600/jennie+chair+after.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-V7QRdtvspkg/UazZVdAsp6I/AAAAAAAAENA/56mR8i3EbvU/s320/jennie+chair+after.JPG" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ABHUryViCUc/UazZbGN9hzI/AAAAAAAAENQ/KAKg6N6yzu0/s1600/jennie+chair+after+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ABHUryViCUc/UazZbGN9hzI/AAAAAAAAENQ/KAKg6N6yzu0/s320/jennie+chair+after+1.JPG" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HBsnDG0cTO4/UazZa6ACidI/AAAAAAAAENI/_RbhIEzMXm4/s1600/jennie+chair+after+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HBsnDG0cTO4/UazZa6ACidI/AAAAAAAAENI/_RbhIEzMXm4/s320/jennie+chair+after+2.JPG" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9pA6Fri0em0/UazZbso-y7I/AAAAAAAAENU/0jmrSM5aaFc/s1600/jennie+chair+after+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9pA6Fri0em0/UazZbso-y7I/AAAAAAAAENU/0jmrSM5aaFc/s320/jennie+chair+after+3.JPG" /></a><br/> Soo great!Katiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16027345614249821198noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4720860539585589730.post-53311292362949869962013-05-30T11:11:00.000-07:002013-05-30T11:11:06.240-07:00Better after!I was featured on the <a href="http://www.betterafter.net/2013/05/handwriting-and-cock-fighting.html">Better After</a> blog today! If you don't know what that is you should check it out. Its awesome!! This post was one of my favorite transformations!Katiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16027345614249821198noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4720860539585589730.post-87544144000461857792013-05-29T14:40:00.001-07:002013-05-29T14:40:54.468-07:00Is it legal??According to fashion police it is totally legal to wear white now. You know.. because it was just Memorial Day.. And dont you worry, i kicked off Memorial Day wearing my crisp white shorts to the golf course! It was my first time out since last year and I must say...i was quite impressed with myself! Even my little redhead was driving the ball off the t! I mean as far as a 4 year old can. What can I say, we are good at the "lesbian" sports. No offense to the lesbians.. And speaking of my little redhead, today she turned 4!! Where has the time gone??? She cracks me up daily. <br/><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dDo8chWOGXM/UaZy1JoEFKI/AAAAAAAAEL0/WFw8Fux3Qko/s1600/IMG_0269.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dDo8chWOGXM/UaZy1JoEFKI/AAAAAAAAEL0/WFw8Fux3Qko/s320/IMG_0269.jpg" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lUcULGu4kvs/UaZy4LnuCjI/AAAAAAAAEL8/MHa_hLcAlnU/s1600/DSC_0082.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lUcULGu4kvs/UaZy4LnuCjI/AAAAAAAAEL8/MHa_hLcAlnU/s320/DSC_0082.JPG" /></a><br/>She is a sassy one and I would not have her any other way!! She was a good sport today and came with me to drop off a slipcover, run a few errands, go to lunch and get a smoothie. She loved spending time with just ME! So fun. <br/><br/> My client had this great couch that was made for slipcovers, but her previous cover was falling apart. When I showed up to pick up her fabric she was not sure about what she ordered...she was going for a white comfy vibe and the fabric that came was a glorified muslin... Lucky for her i have done a million white slipcovers and sent her down to Orem to see the gals at Home Fabrics. They hooked her up with a great white twill fabric that was perfect for the look she was going for! Like I said...It must be Memorial Day!! I swear all I have been doing lately is white! and don't you worry, I have a great little chair in the garage that is about to get a white makeover this weekend... But hey, its a great fabric and white always looks amazing! Here is her couch before:<br/><br/><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bnr9MuB_-54/UaZ0uBGxwbI/AAAAAAAAEMI/MKgmd3oYOHw/s1600/katrina+couch+before.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bnr9MuB_-54/UaZ0uBGxwbI/AAAAAAAAEMI/MKgmd3oYOHw/s320/katrina+couch+before.JPG" /></a><br/><br/>We kept the lines of the couch the same. I really do love this white fabric! It washes up soo well and is super durable. Great for a house full of kids...because, if it gets dirty, just throw that bad boy in the wash! Plus it lightens up any room..<br/><br/><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-M0RSXeA0s8s/UaZ1PDleKyI/AAAAAAAAEMQ/7g4iNaWDGbM/s1600/Katrina+couch+after.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-M0RSXeA0s8s/UaZ1PDleKyI/AAAAAAAAEMQ/7g4iNaWDGbM/s320/Katrina+couch+after.JPG" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-n-7c5ItBPiY/UaZ1SEN3afI/AAAAAAAAEMg/DgZRcKUh3FE/s1600/Katrina+couch+after+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-n-7c5ItBPiY/UaZ1SEN3afI/AAAAAAAAEMg/DgZRcKUh3FE/s320/Katrina+couch+after+1.JPG" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zC7rqg1vK1U/UaZ1R9B9vNI/AAAAAAAAEMY/KZIo6BKCvik/s1600/Katrina+couch+after+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zC7rqg1vK1U/UaZ1R9B9vNI/AAAAAAAAEMY/KZIo6BKCvik/s320/Katrina+couch+after+2.JPG" /></a><br/><br/>My client LOVED the results! She was happy she ditched the fabric she originally ordered and went with the white!!Katiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16027345614249821198noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4720860539585589730.post-37511776018331342382013-05-23T18:36:00.000-07:002013-05-23T18:36:54.584-07:00Jealous much???Um...I am <i>EXTREAMLY</i> jealous of how my cute clients chairs turned out! I secretly hoped she hated them so I could buy them from her... No such luck! Turns out, she loved them as much as I did! My client started with just 1 chair and ottoman. She was hunting for a matching set, a couch and the perfect fabric. Well people.. She struck gold, but not with out a minor set back. You see, she found the exact same chair and ottoman along with the matching couch to her yellow floral chair and ottoman. one problem. it was on ksl. She called up the guy, agreed on a price and figured that was that. Wrong! When she went to pick up the chair, ottoman and couch he told her that he wanted double for all of it. What a D*#@$H (thats my opinion). So she took the chair and ditched the couch. But hey, she got a matching pair and the most amazing fabric ever!! So win win! Here is the "lovely" duo before...<br/><br/><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xXwhqFyFF8A/UZ7AHZIVbgI/AAAAAAAAEKc/kY4yPYF2pak/s1600/Rachel+chairs+before.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xXwhqFyFF8A/UZ7AHZIVbgI/AAAAAAAAEKc/kY4yPYF2pak/s320/Rachel+chairs+before.jpg" /></a><br/>United together at last! Same chairs, different fabric. I am sure all of you have sat on one of these bad boys a few time is your life. heck, you may be sitting on one right now. Sure they are comfy, but lets be honest, the fabric selection with these chairs is sub-par...But, with a little nerd love these babies can be quite spectacular! My client said her home has a more country vibe to it (but not the kind that has furniture upholstered in "farm-scapes".. you know exactly what I am saying here..) but more of a chic country.. Her fabric she pick is by far one of my favorites. hands down!! I don't know what it is about the modern floral but I love them! Especially the ones with bold pops of color. We kept the lines the same with a box skirt and box cushions. I lined the skirt to give it shape and weight. And so it would hang better. Drum roll please....<br/><br/><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-y8PHnkdHiTw/UZ7BikQv0rI/AAAAAAAAEKs/iNnhA0_VrrA/s1600/Rachel+chairs+after.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-y8PHnkdHiTw/UZ7BikQv0rI/AAAAAAAAEKs/iNnhA0_VrrA/s320/Rachel+chairs+after.JPG" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3cuINfpKdPs/UZ7BwO9yxrI/AAAAAAAAELE/XdONOYWeiL0/s1600/Rachel+chaairs+after+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3cuINfpKdPs/UZ7BwO9yxrI/AAAAAAAAELE/XdONOYWeiL0/s320/Rachel+chaairs+after+1.jpg" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WOuPNu61Xjw/UZ7BuvrWwOI/AAAAAAAAEK0/vD2fTEowk6w/s1600/Rachel+chairs+after+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WOuPNu61Xjw/UZ7BuvrWwOI/AAAAAAAAEK0/vD2fTEowk6w/s320/Rachel+chairs+after+2.JPG" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-f5eEPLtQtJ4/UZ7BuzsRzNI/AAAAAAAAEK4/ujaqVDVXWoU/s1600/Rachel+chairs+after+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-f5eEPLtQtJ4/UZ7BuzsRzNI/AAAAAAAAEK4/ujaqVDVXWoU/s320/Rachel+chairs+after+3.JPG" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--oWqjHQZoTA/UZ7B0qdUP3I/AAAAAAAAELM/GPQOgYJ9ZnY/s1600/Rachel+chairs+after+4.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--oWqjHQZoTA/UZ7B0qdUP3I/AAAAAAAAELM/GPQOgYJ9ZnY/s320/Rachel+chairs+after+4.JPG" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-r1G4si-iT7I/UZ7B1hM-OEI/AAAAAAAAELU/HQDpeq7JTks/s1600/Rachel+chairs+after+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-r1G4si-iT7I/UZ7B1hM-OEI/AAAAAAAAELU/HQDpeq7JTks/s320/Rachel+chairs+after+5.jpg" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gseJI1A7kkw/UZ7CCjR7NXI/AAAAAAAAELc/fQQgJTwsEwI/s1600/Rachel+chairs+after+6.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gseJI1A7kkw/UZ7CCjR7NXI/AAAAAAAAELc/fQQgJTwsEwI/s320/Rachel+chairs+after+6.JPG" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Ao__9AL1BOs/UZ7CDcZ4pAI/AAAAAAAAELk/YzCxXPtFCok/s1600/Rachel+chairs+after+7.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Ao__9AL1BOs/UZ7CDcZ4pAI/AAAAAAAAELk/YzCxXPtFCok/s320/Rachel+chairs+after+7.jpg" /></a><br/> i am dying over how great they look! The fabric was amazing to work with and is so soft and comfy! I am now trying to think how I can incorporate this into my house...I know I can figure something out..I just love the bold pops of blue and pink. This fabric really has some great colors to pull out of a create a color scheme around. in my opinion..she nailed it!!!Katiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16027345614249821198noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4720860539585589730.post-23515594085614812622013-05-16T14:09:00.000-07:002013-05-16T14:09:59.881-07:00sleepin in styleSo I have refused to turn our AC on just yet...all the windows are open to welcome a nice breeze thru the house. No worries, it only reached 85 degrees inside the past couple afternoons... I can hold strong, I know it!! You see, I am an AC snob... I usually keep the house at a comfy 71 in the summer. So delightful! But I figure, if I hold off and get used to having 80's in the house, I'll appreciate a 75-76 degree AC house...right?? Pray for me! and my family.... I fitted my clients LARGE sofa sleeper in my garage, that is west facing.. 2 days ago and I was sweating!! I mean, dripping down my face, change your shirt a few times and then shower sweating!! I survived and boy was it worth it!!<br/><br/> My client wanted a "shabby chic" look for her couch. She bought her white heavy twill fabric form Home Fabrics in orem and a smashing $6.50 a yard! She also wanted to combine the 2 seat and 2 back cushions into 1 long seat and 1 long back cushion so give it that casual look. I sewed them together and then wrapped those suckers in batting to even out the cushion and give it more loft. We did a ruffled skirt to chic it up. She also had me make 2 ruffle pillows to go with the couch out of the same fabric. The results are quite amazing!!! Here is the before...<br/><br/>/></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uNqLSmKX11I/UZVAIIRG8_I/AAAAAAAAEJI/RYPFN6qsPJA/s1600/jennie+couch+before.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uNqLSmKX11I/UZVAIIRG8_I/AAAAAAAAEJI/RYPFN6qsPJA/s320/jennie+couch+before.JPG" /></a><br/><br/>nothing too exciting! My sister in law was here when I put it all together and she said this was one of favorites that i have done!! i think she is now looking for a couch to do this to. lol! Its amazing what a difference 1 long single cushion can do to the look of a couch. I am really thinking about doing this to our "not so comfy" couch... I love it!!!<br/><br/> On a side note..I am starting to get really busy! So if you are wanting stuff done contact me to get on my list. Right now i have 1 spot open in June and will be starting to book for July. I have a rock star client that dropped off 2 chairs and ottomans to be slipcovered and i am dying over her fabric!! Here is a little sneak peek...<br/><br/><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-a8jOiDRhGIk/UZVBovoJEAI/AAAAAAAAEJ8/kjIvGVbp1m0/s1600/rachel+fabric.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-a8jOiDRhGIk/UZVBovoJEAI/AAAAAAAAEJ8/kjIvGVbp1m0/s320/rachel+fabric.JPG" /></a><br/> What you cant see is that this stuff is in my kids old bedroom along with 4 chairs, 2 ottomans and chaise lounge, along with fabric and random cushions... Its a kids dream to have a room full of random furniture to make forts out of... Hey. at least it keeps them busy...right?Katiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16027345614249821198noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4720860539585589730.post-82739750643510668752013-05-10T09:07:00.000-07:002013-05-10T09:07:22.090-07:00low.ride.erI survived my first (out of state) horse show on a my young horse this past weekend!! We managed to pull in a 70.9% on our first ride! (Its a Dressage thing...google it.) She was fantastic! You see, I am used to having a young horse that gets anxiety when left alone...like, try to climb out of his stall anxiety! I could go on and on about all things I had to go through with my last horse, but we would be here forever... My mare was a champ!! Here is too the start of what I can hope is a great show season!<br/><br/>As for the "coon" update... well..lets just say the problem was "taken care of" while I was away and we shall leave it like that. Thanks for all the comments and advise!<br/><br/>Now on to business! My client had a pair of these little lowrider chairs on casters. I love these kinds of chairs! They are soo comfy and can fit just about anywhere! Plus they have super great lines for slipcovering. When i was fitting these chairs ZZ Top kept running thru my head! "All my friends love a lowrider", plus lets be honest.. How great are their beards??? AMAZING! Anyways...Here is the before pic. I like to call this upholstery "the carpet bag". Doesn't it remind you of Mary Poppins and her magic carpet bag?<br/><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7UFXhRgprcs/UY0YcCMKkKI/AAAAAAAAEHw/jHL6R0_UfaY/s1600/Meritt+before.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7UFXhRgprcs/UY0YcCMKkKI/AAAAAAAAEHw/jHL6R0_UfaY/s320/Meritt+before.JPG" /></a><br/>I am not gonna lie..I half expected a lamp to come out when I removed the cushions.. She chose to have them slipcovered in a nice neutral stripe fabric that she score on the clearance rack at Home Fabrics for $3 a yard! It had a hint of a rubber backing to it which is great cause it acts like velcro agains the "carpet bag" upholstery. We kept the lines of the chair giving it a modern touch. Love it! It makes me want to sit nice and low in it and cruise slow pass the kitchen and down the hall.<br/><br/><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2y3mc6UvxK4/UY0Z9Nyn0AI/AAAAAAAAEH8/78PAimajhoU/s1600/Meritt+after.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2y3mc6UvxK4/UY0Z9Nyn0AI/AAAAAAAAEH8/78PAimajhoU/s320/Meritt+after.jpg" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lmd1VHlDYj4/UY0aJ7qIZ1I/AAAAAAAAEIE/czoPAhgomMc/s1600/Meritt+after+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lmd1VHlDYj4/UY0aJ7qIZ1I/AAAAAAAAEIE/czoPAhgomMc/s320/Meritt+after+1.JPG" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HqLZo9U7UaE/UY0aJ8niXnI/AAAAAAAAEIM/HPlWEkc-KMI/s1600/Meritt+after+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HqLZo9U7UaE/UY0aJ8niXnI/AAAAAAAAEIM/HPlWEkc-KMI/s320/Meritt+after+2.JPG" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iZ61IIPWxMo/UY0aKJ8GwbI/AAAAAAAAEIQ/-SPSc9NTGMU/s1600/Meritt+after+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iZ61IIPWxMo/UY0aKJ8GwbI/AAAAAAAAEIQ/-SPSc9NTGMU/s320/Meritt+after+3.JPG" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-30PXBzuob84/UY0aPH29YyI/AAAAAAAAEIg/Zk4gK1ONaFQ/s1600/Meritt+after+4.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-30PXBzuob84/UY0aPH29YyI/AAAAAAAAEIg/Zk4gK1ONaFQ/s320/Meritt+after+4.JPG" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YxOXs6AXrAI/UY0aQCwvYkI/AAAAAAAAEIc/nsmmj6d0Jds/s1600/Meritt+after+5.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YxOXs6AXrAI/UY0aQCwvYkI/AAAAAAAAEIc/nsmmj6d0Jds/s320/Meritt+after+5.JPG" /></a><br/><br/> She also had me make a bench cushion for her out of a red tweedish fabric.<br/><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BBkPgIAPTTg/UY0ahe7IVHI/AAAAAAAAEIs/ZR0L54WvcQk/s1600/Meritt+bench+cushion.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BBkPgIAPTTg/UY0ahe7IVHI/AAAAAAAAEIs/ZR0L54WvcQk/s320/Meritt+bench+cushion.JPG" /></a><br/> I am starting to get super busy so If you are wanting something done hit me up to get on my schedule. I am not sure how I feel about it either. Normally I am a huge animal lover, but this little guy really rubs me the wrong way!! here it is.....<br/><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zozXZOa_Yzs/UYNSjdYbbpI/AAAAAAAAEGg/jPxR-3PdCPE/s1600/coon.jpeg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zozXZOa_Yzs/UYNSjdYbbpI/AAAAAAAAEGg/jPxR-3PdCPE/s320/coon.jpeg" /></a><br/>you may be thinking to yourself.. aww. its just soo cute! right? Wrong!!! This little guy has been hanging around our street for a few days now. It is NOT scared of dogs or humans! Even worse. a few nights ago my bestie neighbor called to tell me there was a coon. and that she chucked legos at him from the back porch to scare it and it simply picked them up and played with them.<br/><br/>later that night I completely forgot about it and let the dog out to go potty. We have a lab/pit mix. He is the best dog ever! After I let him out he made an appearance... OH SH#@!!! My awesome dog is out with the "critter" and who knows if its aggressive or even worse.. has rabies! He clearly was not scared of me. he walked up on to the porch and picked up bubas' toy, which of all things, is stuffed raccoon...Go figure. Once buba locked on him I panicked! I was yelling "COON COON" to my husband and yelling at buba to stay and get inside! Lucky for me, my dog listened and came in without lunging at it. they were toe to toe! So now its midnight, i am screaming at the dog, screaming at my husband to get the bb gun and the dog is going nuts inside cause he wants a piece of it! <br/><br/>My husband shot at it and could not tell if he got him or not, but he stayed away (for all we know..). Well today, my neighbor across the street called and said, "that coon was in my house!" Her cousins are in the process of moving in for the summer while they are away. they were bringing stuff in the house and that coon followed them right in! they had to trap it in a laundry basket and get it out! Crazy! Now its just hanging around. it has GOT to go!!!!<br/> On an unrelated note... i just finished a chair and ottoman for on of my designer clients' client... you follow? She picked a grey corduroy to give it a more modern look from the original chair. We kept a skirt on it just to cover the more traditional feet. this fabric was awesome but a little tricky to work with. It had a dacron backing to it so it was thick! but al in all it turned out great!<br/>Before<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-EzHFF4xeDEg/UYNWX1WT31I/AAAAAAAAEGw/cbDyAYjYAlw/s1600/cherie+chair+before.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-EzHFF4xeDEg/UYNWX1WT31I/AAAAAAAAEGw/cbDyAYjYAlw/s320/cherie+chair+before.JPG" /></a><br/>after...<br/><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tJ8P0SDT_IY/UYNWvuVUgXI/AAAAAAAAEHE/EFQcOhq57zI/s1600/cherie+chair+after+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tJ8P0SDT_IY/UYNWvuVUgXI/AAAAAAAAEHE/EFQcOhq57zI/s320/cherie+chair+after+1.jpg" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-EpAJQHo9YyQ/UYNWt_F1YyI/AAAAAAAAEG4/Wu_kPfip5Dc/s1600/cherie+chair+after+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-EpAJQHo9YyQ/UYNWt_F1YyI/AAAAAAAAEG4/Wu_kPfip5Dc/s320/cherie+chair+after+2.JPG" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dxEUuo9LzVA/UYNWvSK_XVI/AAAAAAAAEHA/4CFB8IbUqss/s1600/cherie+chair+after.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dxEUuo9LzVA/UYNWvSK_XVI/AAAAAAAAEHA/4CFB8IbUqss/s320/cherie+chair+after.jpg" /></a><br/>I also made some pillows too!<b/><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-krMmv86lhz4/UYNXG8oZMpI/AAAAAAAAEHg/X8y9AJfx-Lo/s1600/cherie+chair+and+pillows.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-krMmv86lhz4/UYNXG8oZMpI/AAAAAAAAEHg/X8y9AJfx-Lo/s320/cherie+chair+and+pillows.jpg" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-25WFYv8PKo4/UYNXGMhDOjI/AAAAAAAAEHY/KWMIo2fawGo/s1600/cherie+pillows.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-25WFYv8PKo4/UYNXGMhDOjI/AAAAAAAAEHY/KWMIo2fawGo/s320/cherie+pillows.JPG" /></a><br/>Well...I am headed out to Grand Junction, CO this morning for a horse show this weekend! I am really excited! I hope the weather stays nice. Every time we have visited this "lovely" place for a show it has either been a raining muddy windy mess or we have a demolition derby and motocross going on. Not a good combo with horses... When I get home I wont have a chance to breath! I have 2 chairs and a couch to tackle...So i am going to enjoy this weekend so I can take on next week. Katiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16027345614249821198noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4720860539585589730.post-11909166676824912882013-04-27T11:13:00.000-07:002013-04-27T11:13:29.518-07:00Reunited Remember when we "sold" our house last summer? And then it fell thru 2 days before we got earnest $$ and 2 weeks before closing... Boo! Remember how, when we thought our house was sold we had a huge yard sale and got rid of a ton of stuff we did not want to move? And finally, remember how my good friend talked us in to buying our super comfy and awesome sectional cause, again, we though our house was sold and we did not want to move and store it? Well...here is refresher picture for you to remember what the crap I am talking about.<br/><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-da3ILju09SQ/UXwQkthqJ-I/AAAAAAAAEFc/y-7137uNgjo/s1600/IMG_3696.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-da3ILju09SQ/UXwQkthqJ-I/AAAAAAAAEFc/y-7137uNgjo/s320/IMG_3696.JPG" /></a><br/>This wonderful beast of a couch was amazing!! It always caressed you in the perfect spot and it allowed every one to sit and enjoy it! It was simply grand! It also was the first, yes, FIRST thing I ever slipcovered! This, my friends, is where it all started!<br/><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OgszSqHWUR8/UXwRGVAqgxI/AAAAAAAAEFk/L4ogLt9GrVo/s1600/IMG_4065.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OgszSqHWUR8/UXwRGVAqgxI/AAAAAAAAEFk/L4ogLt9GrVo/s320/IMG_4065.jpg" /></a><br/> This was a huge undertaking for a first slipcover! it took me a month to do and all I had was my Bernina. Eh boy... imagine sewing over a hundred yards of piping...kill me now!!! I had 13 cushions, which I swear, none of them where the same size and the body was in 3 pieces!! Definitely a labor of love. And oh how we loved it!! It was sad to see it go, but I knew it was going to a great home.<br/><br/> Lets fast forward 1 year... Luckily we had some nice couched from Z Gallery that we could use to fill the void in our lives. But they are NOT nearly as comfy as the beast! We end up on the floor half the time. Oh How we miss those down cushions. Tear... We still curse our friends names every time sit on the couch! Anyways... enough of my sob story. My friend called cause she wanted to switch up the body of the couch and add some blue to compliment the blue in the cushions. She bought 22 yards of a really pretty blue gray canvas and put me to work. It was so great to see that our couch was be loved just as much as we loved it! We gave it more of a relaxed fit cause, its a comfy couch!! Her kids play all day on it and it would drive her nuts to have to keep adjusting it all the time. So.. here it is! I love how the blue just lightens thing up and adds that pop of color! <br/><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JRO9w0ofUYE/UXwTS0x9RZI/AAAAAAAAEF4/EEAhEcefk30/s1600/photo+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JRO9w0ofUYE/UXwTS0x9RZI/AAAAAAAAEF4/EEAhEcefk30/s320/photo+2.JPG" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QcR8rG2x5_o/UXwTTPbJN5I/AAAAAAAAEF8/8AXvSFWCugs/s1600/photo+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QcR8rG2x5_o/UXwTTPbJN5I/AAAAAAAAEF8/8AXvSFWCugs/s320/photo+3.JPG" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Z1xVxFNhvh4/UXwTWjNEIOI/AAAAAAAAEGM/HgS-jNYctRI/s1600/photo+4.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Z1xVxFNhvh4/UXwTWjNEIOI/AAAAAAAAEGM/HgS-jNYctRI/s320/photo+4.JPG" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--76f1WxaLZo/UXwTPwjQZvI/AAAAAAAAEFw/I-_ghRKA8NI/s1600/photo+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--76f1WxaLZo/UXwTPwjQZvI/AAAAAAAAEFw/I-_ghRKA8NI/s320/photo+1.JPG" /></a> <br/> Sorry about the messy pillows! I had them all set up and then got bombarded by 4 kids! But doesn't it look fabulous!! <br/>Things are starting to get crazy around here so if you are wanting something slipcovered, contact me to get on my waiting list!Katiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16027345614249821198noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4720860539585589730.post-19082969479931233492013-04-23T09:30:00.001-07:002013-04-23T09:31:52.638-07:00So fresh and so clean, clean!My good friend contacted me because she needed some stool covers made for her spa. You may of heard of it.. <a href="http://amaradayspa.com">Amara</a>!! They are pretty much the bees knees. A full service salon plus super chic clothing and accessory store all wrapped up into 1 amazing box! And, right now they have a ton of fun clothes and swimwear. I would have stopped to try on a few things after I dropped everything off, but i had my tiny entourage with me. They cause the wrong kind of damage...lol! Anyways..They needed 10 stools covered for their treatment rooms (they are the <a href="http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S59850386/">NILS</a> stool from IKEA). They had covers on them, but they just were not cutting it. Cloth covers in that atmosphere are hard to keep clean, and who wants to be removing, washing and putting on 10 covers every day??? Um...not me! <br/><br/>Here is one of the stools before...<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AK86kzcGfpw/UXa1ageRlNI/AAAAAAAAEE4/mqKHvcl3GxA/s1600/Amara+before.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AK86kzcGfpw/UXa1ageRlNI/AAAAAAAAEE4/mqKHvcl3GxA/s320/Amara+before.JPG" /></a>Not bad, but not great. And if you have been to Amara, everything IS GREAT!!! So I grabbed some samples for her to try out. She picked a out a great neutral vinyl that looks like leather but can be wiped off and cleaned easily. I did not do any piping on these stools because of how much wear they will get. Instead I topstitched the seams in white. I think they look super chic now and totally fit in with the rest of the spa!<br/><br/> Here is the after!<br/><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pDpHdmjngMo/UXa2SzvZe4I/AAAAAAAAEFE/e9BOHvdN2uI/s1600/amara+after+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pDpHdmjngMo/UXa2SzvZe4I/AAAAAAAAEFE/e9BOHvdN2uI/s320/amara+after+1.JPG" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tYBiiIGOeV4/UXa2TBdrBQI/AAAAAAAAEFM/yVp5Un1yugM/s1600/amara+after.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tYBiiIGOeV4/UXa2TBdrBQI/AAAAAAAAEFM/yVp5Un1yugM/s320/amara+after.JPG" /></a> <br/> I love them!!! Right now I am working on a sectional... so stay tuned!!!Katiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16027345614249821198noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4720860539585589730.post-70712158062627393802013-04-12T08:01:00.002-07:002013-04-12T08:01:58.542-07:00Pleats anyone??What weighs 30 lbs, is all white and has 25 yards of 4" pleats??? These 2 slipcovers for this sleeper sofa!!! You think i am exaggerating?? No joke people! I have a super awesome client that wanted 2 slipcovers made for her FREE sleeper sofa she got from a family member. Remember cute <a href="http://thesewingnerd.blogspot.com/2012/08/celestial-glory.html">Lindsay</a>? Well she has had quite an "adventure" for lack of a better word since december. She emailed me wanting these slips made but needed to schedule her drop off around her chemo schedule. Say what??? Chemo? She and her family found out a few day before christmas that she had cancer. BOO!!<br/><br/> This subject hits close to home for me. My mom had the same fight about 5 years ago. I was pregnant with my daughter. I can still remember where I was and the conversation with my mom when she told us. She had breast cancer. Luckily she had a great team of doctors behind her. They treated her cancer super aggressive because even thou they classified it as breast cancer they could not really find the point of origin. I remember sitting at IMC with her during her chemo sessions. Trying not to go into a shock induced labor. All I can say is anyone who has to endure that is AMAZING!!! She had 8 rounds of chemo followed by 6 weeks of radiation. My mom is truly my hero. When she found out about the caner I remember what she said, like it was yesterday... "I don't have time for this!!" She never once had a "poor me" attitude. In fact she continued going to work thru it all!!! She had to go thru all of the treatments, lose her hair, have to take 40 pills a day during treatment, some for the cancer and some to counteract the many side effects of the chemo and still, deal with many other cancer "issues" and now, almost 5 years later still deal with the "aftermath" of cancer. She never once complained! She IS amazing! She has been in remission now for almost 5 years and is doing great!<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SEtS4T6Ns74/UWghyFsrpAI/AAAAAAAAEEM/iT79I_Kgozc/s1600/IMG_1595.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SEtS4T6Ns74/UWghyFsrpAI/AAAAAAAAEEM/iT79I_Kgozc/s320/IMG_1595.jpg" /></a><br/><br/>So when Lindsay said "cancer", I knew what she and her family were in for. But Lindsay reminds me of my mom in a lot of ways. She is a fighter! She doesn't have time for cancer! Life doesn't just stop because you have caner. Heck, she has 5 kids a husband to take care of.. But she does have an awesome support team and that is all that is important! When she showed up to drop off her couch she looked amazing! I just love her! She is amazing and I know she is gonna kick this cancer in the butt!!<br/><br/>To finish off this post here is what Lindsay wanted.. 2 slipcovers for her free couch that will go in the "home teacher's" room! Love it! <br/>Before<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-U8ilrw7BmaQ/UWgd4zWXxAI/AAAAAAAAEDk/ZLZLfI79cYk/s1600/lindsey+before.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-U8ilrw7BmaQ/UWgd4zWXxAI/AAAAAAAAEDk/ZLZLfI79cYk/s320/lindsey+before.JPG" /></a><br/><br>She went with a white denim fabric that is super for slipcovers. She ordered and washed 40 yard!! Soo much fabric!! You better believe I used every last inch too! She wanted a box pleat skirt on both...thats 54 box pleats. per slipcover.. these slipcovers turned out great(x's 2)! I made the decking functional so that they did not have to remove the entire slipcover if they ever needed to use the "hide a bed".<br/><br/>after<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ehLdLspW0_A/UWgfOpPibYI/AAAAAAAAEDw/vq_kI2sHfRc/s1600/lindsey+after+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ehLdLspW0_A/UWgfOpPibYI/AAAAAAAAEDw/vq_kI2sHfRc/s320/lindsey+after+1.JPG" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SNpyV2pMZ4k/UWgfO6e5saI/AAAAAAAAED0/nbLHF91oP78/s1600/Lindsey+after.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SNpyV2pMZ4k/UWgfO6e5saI/AAAAAAAAED0/nbLHF91oP78/s320/Lindsey+after.JPG" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZIN7J3RrVss/UWgfO5olnwI/AAAAAAAAED4/UrOnMQlWTLs/s1600/lindsey+after+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZIN7J3RrVss/UWgfO5olnwI/AAAAAAAAED4/UrOnMQlWTLs/s320/lindsey+after+2.JPG" /></a> Katiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16027345614249821198noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4720860539585589730.post-25252608875162747642013-04-10T11:19:00.000-07:002013-04-12T08:18:06.938-07:00So I have been up to my ears in sewing cushions! i have had a few clients need cushions sewn for chairs and couches! i was able to squeak out 8 cushions in the past 2 days.. On top of pinning 2 couches and sewing those 4 cushions. Whew!! So here is the reveal... <br/><br/>The cushions on these 2 chairs were coming apart. The inserts them selves were great. Down filled and comfy!!! but the seams were coming apart. So we made some new ones with a great paisley fabric. before<br/><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5CPaLWgDg1Y/UWWmVQKMbMI/AAAAAAAAECs/7dKoJQXNP3s/s1600/tamera+before.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5CPaLWgDg1Y/UWWmVQKMbMI/AAAAAAAAECs/7dKoJQXNP3s/s320/tamera+before.JPG" /></a><br/>after<br/><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bIgGn5jmvU4/UWWmelOq8jI/AAAAAAAAEC0/uJUSuzc5kbw/s1600/tamera+after.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bIgGn5jmvU4/UWWmelOq8jI/AAAAAAAAEC0/uJUSuzc5kbw/s320/tamera+after.JPG" /></a><br/>Ill post a pic after she gets them home and in place. <br/> Here are the other set of cushions I made..My client called because she had recovered her old couches and started the cushions....but thats where is ended.. after all that hard work she ran out of steam, and her husband did not like the combo of fabric she came up for the cushions. Dang those husbands...i dont give mine a choice! I give him options and then ask him his opinion. But i end up always going with mine in the end.. sorry honey!! so here is what she started with..<br/><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Y8-Rv9yWFiw/UWWniaMEjDI/AAAAAAAAEC8/LgQMx_Z-0iQ/s1600/rachel+before.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Y8-Rv9yWFiw/UWWniaMEjDI/AAAAAAAAEC8/LgQMx_Z-0iQ/s320/rachel+before.jpg" /></a> <br/>this is the after ish...<br/><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FAflARqHnCY/UWWnvQeWOAI/AAAAAAAAEDE/x-pyqGaobpo/s1600/rachel+middle.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FAflARqHnCY/UWWnvQeWOAI/AAAAAAAAEDE/x-pyqGaobpo/s320/rachel+middle.jpg" /></a><br/> and the cushions after I redid them. She kept them solid instead of the damask on top...<br/><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XI6OqT1oLlQ/UWWslfP96WI/AAAAAAAAEDU/cQmsKuVd_-0/s1600/rachel+cushions+after.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XI6OqT1oLlQ/UWWslfP96WI/AAAAAAAAEDU/cQmsKuVd_-0/s320/rachel+cushions+after.JPG" /></a> They go great with the pillows she made for them! <a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NjXZNgv6eW8/UWgliwPPk4I/AAAAAAAAEEg/Nk7qliORm8U/s1600/Rachel+after+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NjXZNgv6eW8/UWgliwPPk4I/AAAAAAAAEEg/Nk7qliORm8U/s320/Rachel+after+1.jpg" /></a><br/> I still have a few spots left this month, so get your act and fabric together and hit me up!!!Katiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16027345614249821198noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4720860539585589730.post-54812685371742662012013-04-08T11:16:00.000-07:002013-04-08T11:16:23.937-07:00I love Monday!Look what came in the mail!!! It's my favorite kind of day! I am finishing up 2 couch Slipcovers today and tomorrow and some random chair cushions and then I can dive into my goodies!!! I bought some fun knit to make maxi skirts for me and Oakley, thats right. we are gonna be twiners!. I also got the fabric for the wingback chair I picked up that will be available for purchase, fabric for some poufs for my <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/thesewingnerd">esty</a> shop and I totally scored an awesome chaise lounge on ksl over the weekend that all my treasures are laid out on! I can't wait to slip it in a fun print for my "lounge" room!!! I'd say its a great way to start out the week!!<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7wLkVeXr3Q8/UWMGuEKe6EI/AAAAAAAAECc/pGDoHVOl5ro/s1600/IMG_3099.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7wLkVeXr3Q8/UWMGuEKe6EI/AAAAAAAAECc/pGDoHVOl5ro/s320/IMG_3099.JPG" /></a>Katiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16027345614249821198noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4720860539585589730.post-11624481592280282632013-03-28T16:39:00.000-07:002013-03-28T16:39:23.731-07:00Feeling the burn...Julie is a dear client of mine. I just love her to bits! I have done some fun stuff for her in the past. Like <a href="http://thesewingnerd.blogspot.com/2012/10/come-on-in-sette-right-down-baby-let.html">here</a> and <a href="http://thesewingnerd.blogspot.com/2012/10/settee-part-deux.html">here</a>. Remember?? Well she called me up because a beloved piece of furniture had a run in with the fireplace...dang those grandkids!!! She has a chair and ottoman that she got from RC Willey years ago and just loves it! but you see, here is the problem...<br/><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-j5fcm3o6enA/UVTRrMv3rVI/AAAAAAAAEBM/e2rl8EtjwDg/s1600/photo.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-j5fcm3o6enA/UVTRrMv3rVI/AAAAAAAAEBM/e2rl8EtjwDg/s320/photo.JPG" /></a><br/> A little too close to the fireplace will do the trick every time!! She had a hard time selecting a fabric to go with the original ottoman. The gals a The Design company paired up some fabric for her and this is what we ended up with!<br/><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ozJ8O7oiwAs/UVTSKo2fMAI/AAAAAAAAEBU/gPsojg8s7Wg/s1600/photo-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ozJ8O7oiwAs/UVTSKo2fMAI/AAAAAAAAEBU/gPsojg8s7Wg/s320/photo-1.JPG" /></a><br/>They paired a great neutral woven fabric with a pop of red. It will go nicely with the chair. I had a little left over fabric and since she was so worried about it going with the chair I made a lumbar pillow cover for her in the reverse fabric of the new slipcover. It should tie everything together perfectly!!<br/><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wnuNSixpLZ8/UVTSzTLrgHI/AAAAAAAAEBc/XLLkDrOFK2c/s1600/photo-2.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wnuNSixpLZ8/UVTSzTLrgHI/AAAAAAAAEBc/XLLkDrOFK2c/s320/photo-2.JPG" /></a><br/> I cant wait to see it up against the chair!<br/><br/>on another note.. I scored a pretty awesome wingback chair with similar lines to this one..<br/><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mA5m9HXS9Nw/UVTTlhp4hZI/AAAAAAAAEBk/mz7Jt3_s1zU/s1600/yellow+bird+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mA5m9HXS9Nw/UVTTlhp4hZI/AAAAAAAAEBk/mz7Jt3_s1zU/s320/yellow+bird+1.jpg" /></a><br/> here is the chair I grabbed<br/><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GfuYukoiwWI/UVTTygQlJHI/AAAAAAAAEBs/vLEkb8OAlWI/s1600/photo-3.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GfuYukoiwWI/UVTTygQlJHI/AAAAAAAAEBs/vLEkb8OAlWI/s320/photo-3.JPG" /></a><br/> and here is what she is gonna be slipcovered in!!!<br/><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-na9CT7DYsAQ/UVTT5PDoq-I/AAAAAAAAEB0/0jKd2vPoe6c/s1600/Magnolia+Home+Fashions+Java+Ikat+Pewter-500x500.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-na9CT7DYsAQ/UVTT5PDoq-I/AAAAAAAAEB0/0jKd2vPoe6c/s320/Magnolia+Home+Fashions+Java+Ikat+Pewter-500x500.jpg" /></a><br/> I can't wait for it to get here! I also ordered some fun fabrics to make some poufs out of for my <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/thesewingnerd">etsy</a> shop. This chair will be for sale once i finish it up! Let me know if you are interested!Katiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16027345614249821198noreply@blogger.com0
